Why Choose Sailcloth Canvas for Your Next Set of Head Covers

At Local GC, we’re always chasing that balance between form and function — gear that looks good, lasts, and doesn’t fold under pressure.

That’s why we use sailcloth canvas across a number of our head covers.

Built for Tough Conditions

Originally made for sails, this canvas is built to handle the elements. It’s weather-resistant, lightweight, and seriously tough — ideal for gear that gets tossed in the boot, pulled out in the rain, or dragged through long rounds in the middle of winter or peak summer.

It holds its shape, won’t fade, and doesn’t rip or fray like standard fabrics.

Made by Hand, Locally

Each head cover is cut, sewn, and finished by hand here in Aotearoa. We keep production small so we can focus on detail, not volume.

It’s a slower way of doing things, but that’s exactly the point.

Materials That Mean Something

We didn’t just want a material that looked the part — it had to feel right too. Sailcloth has seen its share of harsh conditions, and there’s a toughness to it that feels right at home here.

Functional, raw, and reliable.

Camo Range Finder Pouch: Simple, Strong, and Made for the Course

Our Camo Range Finder Pouch is made with the same camo print used by Australian forces. It’s our heaviest, toughest canvas — designed to stand up to the conditions on the course.

With a magnetic closure, it gives you quick and easy access while keeping your range finder safe.

Like all our gear, it’s handmade here in New Zealand in small batches, so every piece gets the attention it deserves.

If you want a strong, no-fuss pouch that works well and looks good, check it out here: Camo Range Finder Pouch.

Why We Make Our Head Covers in Small Batches

At Local GC, we’re not in a rush to make thousands of head covers. We do things slow, on purpose.

Every piece we make is cut, stitched, and finished by hand here in Aotearoa — in small batches, with care.

Not Just for Looks

A head cover gets used every round. It’s in and out of the bag, stuffed into carts, dropped on the green. So it needs to hold up. But we also think it should feel right in your hand. Solid. Balanced. Made with intent.

That’s why the details matter — clean cuts, tight seams, materials that last.

Why We Keep It Small

Small runs give us the freedom to focus on quality. It means less waste, more control, and space to experiment — whether it’s trying out new materials or running one-off colourways.

It also means each piece is a little more personal. No two are exactly the same.

Local First

Everything we make is designed and made here. We test it on local courses, in real conditions. Cold mornings, coastal wind, summer heat — if it doesn’t hold up here, it doesn’t make the cut.

We’d rather keep things close, keep it honest, and make gear that does the job properly.

Limited for a Reason

Because we don’t mass produce, some covers only show up once. When we find a roll of canvas or something special in the workshop, we make what we can and that’s it.

So if you see something you like — grab it while it’s there.
